Bio

Ian is from Midland MI, graduating summa cum laude with degrees in violin performance and chemistry from UM in 2014 (Go Blue!). After taking a year off to work in analytical consulting, Ian was more than ready to get back to academic research during the summer of 2015 at UNC. Outside of the lab, he spends his time playing music, running, playing sports, and sometimes doing absolutely nothing.

 

Research Interests

Ian studies the morphology and electronics of conjugated polymer brushes. In particular, he is interested in novel methods that discern between intramolecular and intermolecular charge transport inside a polymer film. He hopes to explore the influence of morphology on this transport interplay, as well as the potential for polymer brushes for application to spintronics, thermoelectronics, and solar cells.
